eSafety is the safe and responsible use of technology. As we engage in online learning, using technology safely helps protect ourselves and others from harm.

Some basic guidelines we can all follow include:

  • If you are streaming, recording or communicating with your camera on, being eSafe means:

    • Being dressed appropriately - no pyjamas, revealing clothes or inappropriate slogans, images or words.

    • Share your camera in a public space in your house. Don't stream from your bedroom. This is a private space and should not be shared with an internet audience

    • Never share recorded streams from video chats. This includes screenshots taken in video streams, screenshots of posts made by yourself or others (may contain personal details)

  • General eSafety tips include:

    • Join codes to any platforms including Zoom, Google Classroom, Teams etc are sent to the individuals who have been invited to join by the host. It is up to hosts to add people. You should never share these codes with people who are not in your class, grade and especially not in your school.

    • Don’t share your location, address, phone numbers, social media details or private information online.

    • Don’t share private details of others online including their location, address, phone numbers, private email address, social media details or their private information.

    • Know who you are communicating with by using accurate and appropriate screen names. If you aren’t sure whether someone should be in that space, or you have any concerns, let your teacher know immediately.
