Artify app is probably the easiest to use but has too many pop-up ads. Also will include their logo on the finished print
(at bottom right).
Students:
take photos to the camera roll
open Artify and upload the photo they want to change
Choose the artist style they thinks suits the photo (there a few possible choices for Van Gogh.
Then download there finished artwork to the camera.
The most important thing is to take photos that will work.
Create Van Gogh (or other artist) styles by opening the Camera menu in the bottom bar of the Google Arts & Culture app and select Art Transfer. After taking or uploading a photo, choose from dozens of masterpieces to transfer that style onto your image.
Art Projector allows Van Gogh (or other iconic) paintings to be placed into our environment but is only supported on a phone, not iPad.
Both below were taken using Art Transfer – one with the Van Gogh Self Portrait filter, the other with Starry Night filter.
This is very easy to use but when it is transforming the photo it will have a pop up window with the word OPEN on it. Students need to ignore this and the image will open with their filter in about 20 seconds.
Filter to use is Modern Art 6.
Once created, press on floppy disc icon to save to the camera roll, then OK to allow access.
Quite easy to use but need to choose the subject matter carefully for it to look good... or they might be lucky!
Select from the camera roll and choose a filter. The two relevant filters are Starry Night and Sun flowers.
(I had issues on my iPad, but not my phone, so test it out first)
