GOOGLE WORKSPACE UPDATE: School-based Groups and Contacts
We’ve just launched an enhancement to the DoE Google Workspace service for STAFF access only, implementing the new features below:
Autofill is now available when searching for people or groups in almost all Google web and mobile apps. When you want to share content with people or groups, just start typing and matching names will appear from the DoE directory.
System generated school-based groups have been included for students, teachers and non-teachers in all schools
e.g. Year 1 Students of Jindabyne Public School:
“Year 4 Students (2237)”. You can quickly search using partial names like “2237 4”
How will this benefit you?
If you regularly use Google Workspace...
This makes it easier to share Google content with any student or staff groups using system generated school-based groups.
If looking for a particular staff member or one of your students, Autofill means you will find them much quicker and you no longer have to type their full email address!
Works with Google products such as Drive, Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Jamboard, Sites, etc.
Autofill reduces time needed to find and add students to new Classrooms and existing Classrooms
Easier to communicate using system generated school-based groups
