English Extension 2 (HSC Only)

1-unit Year 12 (HSC) Board Developed Course

Prerequisites:

The English Extension 2 Year 12 course has been developed on the assumption that students have studied the content and achieved the outcomes of the English Advanced Year 11 course and the English Extension 1 Year 11 course. The English Extension 2 Year 12 course has also been constructed on the assumption that students are concurrently studying the English Advanced course and the English Extension 1 Year 12 course.

Course Description:

The English Extension 2 course enables students who are accomplished in their use of English with the opportunity to craft language and refine their personal voice in critical and creative ways. The course is conducted in Year 12 and students develop a sustained composition and document their reflection on this process. This course requires students to undertake a composition process in order to complete a Major Work and Refection Statement. This course provides students with the opportunity to apply and extend research skills developed in the English Extension Year 11 course to their own extensive investigation and develop autonomy and skills as a learner and composer.

Students can choose to compose in one of the following forms:

• short fiction

• creative nonfiction

• poetry

• critical response

• script ( short film, television, drama)

• podcasts (drama, storytelling, speeches, performance poetry)​
