We are learning about insects - Why are they important? What insects can you find living near you?

In this unit, students will learn what are the defining features of an insect and why they are important. Claire, one of our teachers, shares her love for a particular type of insect, the praying mantis, and students are encouraged to go on a hunt to find their own insects.

Task 4: Go on an insect hunt

Activity 1: Go on a nature hunt and see what insects are in your own backyard or local area.

In your nature journal, draw a picture of the insect you found.

You could also take photos of insects you find and share with your classmates.
