You will need:
natural materials or items from around the home, such as cardboard, tissue boxes, toilet paper or paper towel rolls, string, empty tins, empty bottles.

a device (optional).
Hint! The instructions are also included below in case you need them.
Nature maps
Duration: 4:27
Step 1:
Choose a nice flat area of at least 1 metre x 1 metre on the ground (e.g. on the grass, dirt, bricks, or carpet). This will be the base of your map.
Step 2:
Create a border using sticks or bark. If you are working on dirt, you could draw a line.
Step 3:
Have a close look at the area around you and decide how much you want to fit into your map.
Step 4:
Start collecting materials that you can use to represent the features on your map. Any natural materials will do.
Hint! In this example we used sticks, rocks, berries, leaves and cones to represent features such as a road, fence, metal sign, brick building, garden beds and planted trees.
Step 5:
Take your time to create a detailed map. Try to make it as close to scale as you can, although it does not have to be perfect.
Step 6:
Collect two things to use as markers on your map.
Step 7:
Place one marker somewhere on your map and place the other marker out in the yard/area that matches the spot on the map.
Hint! Don’t let the others see where you put the marker!
Step 8:
Use the map to find the marker in your backyard/area. Take turns using each other's maps and markers.
Step 9:
Create a hard copy of your map in your workbook or using a device. Remember to include a border, a title, features of your map, a key/legend, and a compass rose.
