'Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie' lyrics

Verse

There’s a song that I know, makes you tap every toe.

Puts a wiggle in your hip and makes you go, go, go!

It’s the Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie,

Yes, the Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie,

It’s the Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie,

Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie,

Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie.

There’s a dance I know,

Like a song I know,

Makes you wanna wave your arms,

up and down fast and slow.

Chorus

Just listen to the band as it rocks along,

With the bass pumping air and the sax blowing strong.

Play the Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie

Yes, the Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie,

It’s the Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie,

Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie,

Boogie Woogie Woogie Woogie Boogie.

Let’s hear some drums!

And now some bass!

Some wild piano!

Some crazy guitar!

Some saxophone!

And all together!

Now we’ve heard that song,

That makes us clap along, makes us tap our feet,

To the boogie woogie beat.

Artist Piet Mondrian was interested in boogie woogie music too and used it to create the artwork below. You can see the grid pattern like the streets of New York with the effect of blinking lights and cars.

Look at the artwork by Piet Mondrian called 'Broadway Boogie Woogie' (1942-43).

Create your own artwork in the abstract style of Mondrian to represent a map.

You will need:

  • a piece of paper

  • coloured pencils, textas or paints and brush

  • a black texta, permanent marker or pencil.

'Broadway Boogie Woogie' (1942-43) by Piet Mondrian

Step 1:

  • Draw black intersecting lines to represent a map. You might use curvy, straight or zig-zag lines depending on where you live but don't show exact details or include any words.

Black intersecting lines on white paper.

Step 2: (Option 1 – pencils)

  • Once you have patterns of lines and intersecting lines, fill in your map using colours that you think best represent your place. Only colour in some of the shapes, leave the rest white.

Black intersecting lines on paper with sections coloured green, orange, pink and blue and other sections left white.

Step 2: (Option 2 paint)

  • Once you have patterns of lines and intersecting lines, paint your map using colours that you think best represent your place. Only paint some of the shapes, leave the rest white.

Black intersecting lines on paper with sections painted pink and yellow, and others left white.
