Supporting the preparation of New Hampshire’s pre-service early childhood educators to improve the social emotional outcomes of young children ages birth to five years old including those children with disabilities.
Granite State College and Plymouth State University have been engaged in embedding the Pyramid Model Framework into their preservice early childhood teacher preparation programs since 2019. Their work prepares preservice teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workforce prepared to improve the social emotional outcomes of young children ages birth to 5 years old including those with disabilities.
Both IHEs have engaged in a program review, the development of an action plan and implementation of their plan. Their work includes: course syllabi changes, the development and delivery of new courses, the incorporation of Pyramid Model trainings into existing courses or practicum experiences, and the opportunity for preservice teachers to experience Pyramid Model implementation in action at one of the IHE's Lab Schools.
