Process Coaching

Overview of Process Coaching

Recognizing that the capacity to take on the systems building process varies greatly in NH’s early childhood system, the Parent Information Center (PIC) has developed a structure for support called a Process Coach. The function of a Process Coach is to support Leadership Teams to apply the components of effective systems building/systems change so that they can implement the Pyramid Model Framework. Process Coaching is not set of activities or responsibilities, but rather a fluid process of selecting, applying and integrating supports to fit the unique context and settings of a Leadership Team. PIC Process Coaches are able to support the following types of Pyramid Model Framework implementation:

  • Community Collaborative/Coalition Level

  • Program Level

  • School District Operated Early Childhood Programs

  • Community Child Care/Preschool Programs

  • Multi-site Community Child Care/Preschool Programs

  • Headstart/Early HeadStart

On a fee-for-service basis, PIC will develop a scope of service based on what is needed to support a particular program or community, meeting them where they are at and supporting their capacity building goals.

Process Coaches are trained, contracted and overseen by PIC. In addition, they have met a set of competencies that you can find here (Process Coach Competencies). Process Coaches are matched with Leadership Teams based on a variety of factors including areas of experience/specialty. The primary responsibilities of a Process Coach are to support Leadership Teams in team development, establishing buy-in, supporting the initial installation of the Pyramid Model Framework and to apply Implementation Science.

In addition to direct Leadership Team support, PIC Process Coaches offer virtual and in-person facilitation of:

  • Pyramid Model Framework Exploration Work Series

  • Local Process Coach Training Program

Exploring the Pyramid Model Framework Virtual Work Series

The Pyramid Model Framework (PMF) is an evidence-based framework that addresses the social-emotional needs of young children by providing teachers, caregivers and families with coaching, tools and strategies to promote and support positive behavior. Over 35 Early Childhood Programs, Child Care Centers and School Districts state-wide are currently using the PMF to reduce challenging behavior and support strong social-emotional skill development. In this multi-part series, you are provided with information, tools and resources to help you begin to explore the PMF, decide if it is a good fit for your program and consider program-wide implementation.

Who should be engaged?

Program administrators, teachers, early childhood providers, caregivers, families, and community partners

How long does this series take to complete?

The 3 modules are about 15 – 20 minutes each of learning time and can be completed at your own pace. Each module of the series includes activities that can be done individually or with members of a team. It is important to know that this series is intended to be an entry point to exploring the PMF. Being “ready to implement” the PMF may take additional time and support. The final module of the series provides you with resources and places you can go to access additional information and supports.
