At Rosehill High School we believe that every person and their identity matter. Everything that we do is centred around the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child - UNCRC.
We work proactively to ensure that all characteristics, as defined in the Equality Act, are supported and championed - Equality Act (2010) | Research | National Improvement Hub (education.gov.scot).
At Rosehill High School we are working to develop a robust and meaningful approach to equality and diversity. All actions aim to improve Rosehill High School’s culture, curriculum, and policy.
What have we been doing to improve our school culture and curriculum?
Worldview Wednesday: All learners receive a weekly learning experience in Homeroom centred on broadening their appreciation of culture and identity.
Equality and Diversity Calendar: A calendar of selected dates and resources designed to support staff when developing learning experiences.
Inclusion Ambassadors: A group of learners meet weekly to share their ideas and support in the development of Rosehill High School’s approach to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Equality and diversity Staff Working Group: A group of staff meet regularly to support the development of Rosehill High School’s approach to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Staff Professional Learning: Staff take part in professional learning to develop consistency of approach when dealing with incidents of anti-equality and prejudiced behaviour.
What have we been doing to improve our school policies?
The Rosehill Way: Incidents of Anti-Equality: A draft policy has been produced to support staff in dealing with incidents of anti-equality in an effective and consistent manner. We are piloting this in the second half of session 24-25: The Rosehill Way: Incidents of Anti-Equality
LGBT Youth Charter: Rosehill High School has taken the first steps in working towards achieving the LGBT Bronze Charter Award.
The Halo Code: Rosehill High School has signed the Halo Code Agreement which promotes the inclusion of hair diversity in our uniform policy and in practice.
Our policies and practices in school reflect those in place both locally and nationally. Some key policies and resources are found here:
