Pupil support is everyone’s responsibility, but in order to offer the highest quality of support to all of our young people, we have an integrated team of staff who undertake a variety of roles. Our current structure will adapt appropriately over time as we continue to grow in order to provide effective, meaningful support and promote the wellbeing and potential of every child. Our key focus is on equipping our young people with the skills to learn, grow and thrive.
Our team for 25-26 is comprised of the DHT Pupil Support, three House Heads, three Pupil Support Workers and a Home/School Practitioner (who works across all three Houses). Our Pupil Equity Fund pays for one of the House Heads, one of the PSWs, and the Home/School Practitioner. This has allowed us to create House Clover in addition to House Heather and House Thistle.
We also have a Curriculum Leader in Support for Learning and two SfL Teachers, as well as a team of ASN auxiliaries. All of our young people have access to support for their learning within an inclusive classroom environment and around the wider school. Young people also have a Homeroom Teacher who supports them with key aspects of the school day such as wellbeing, attendance and school routines.
The Brae is our Severe and Complex Needs provision, to which places are allocated by the local authority. We work in close partnership with our friends in the Brae to learn from each other and provide the best support we can for young people with Additional Support Needs.
