Aim:
review how participants work within a team, and what enables them to be most effective
assess priorities and how the team takes ownership of outcomes
Timings: ELC Outdoor Learning Service will provide a minibus, and the day will start and finish at John Muir House, Haddington. The team will be collected at 0930, returning for 1600.
The activities: We will start at Tyninghame, near Dunbar, with a short walk along the coast north towards Scoughall. We will be able to enjoy the view and fresh air with opportunities for discussion as we progress on our walk. Once at Scoughall there will be time for a fire, lunch and further discussion.
Equipment needed:
Warm and waterproof clothing, including hat and gloves
Comfortable, sturdy footwear
Please get in touch if you need to borrow any of the above.
As clothing may get a bit smokey and it could get a bit muddy too, we suggest nothing too precious is worn. Some dry clothing and footwear in a separate bag that can be left in the minibus will be a good idea just in case. The aim is not to do some sort of survival exercise that would make Bear Grylls proud - we should be enjoying being out in a different environment from the office without being intimidated by it.
Things that need thinking about between now and the activity day:
Everyone will take part, including the facilitators, in answering 4 questions - the so-called 4,3,2,1 exercise. Please think about:
4 things that have shaped you (if you’re old enough, one per decade of your life. If not as old as John (!), then spread them out as much as possible over your lifetime)
3 things that make you come alive
2 best ways to communicate with you
1 thing that nobody would ever guess about you
