Online Training for Outdoor Learning
Course Overview
This course is for anyone who has a role in supporting the delivery of curricular based outdoor learning. The course is aimed at instructors, third sector and private organisations, classroom assistants, volunteers, or indeed anyone who wants to work in partnerships with schools to deliver meaningful outdoor learning experiences. The course will help participants to gain an understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence, and the framework for delivering this to pupils, as well as providing resources and ideas to assist good partnership working.

Course Overview
This course, lead by members of the Outdoor Learning Service and the Early Learning and Childcare Support Team, is packed with practical ideas and outlines six steps that will help practitioners to embrace and enjoy supporting learning and playing outdoors at all times of the year, but especially on those colder and wetter days. It includes how to dress to be comfortable, how to make the most of those natural resources in the nursery outside space or further afield, inspiring videos and ideas to try.

Early Years - Outdoor Learning a Starting Point
Course Overview
This training is designed for Early Years Practitioners eager to make use of the outdoors but who are unsure of the first steps and want to develop confidence. It will also include fire training.
Session Aims:
• develop knowledge and understanding of planning for outdoor learning
• build practitioner knowledge of EVOLVE and risk assessments
• allow participants to start delivering fire sessions.

Course Overview
This is the first couple of modules of Introduction to Orienteering developed by the Scottish Orienteering Association.
On the course you will learn how to introduce the basic skills of orienteering through indoor and outdoor activities, and how to bring a variety of subjects to life through the medium of orienteering. As well as offering the incentive for significant physical activity, orienteering offers links with many areas of the curriculum which are of genuine interest to young people.

Course Overview
The Environmental Learning Cards activities contribute directly to a wide range of educational and development aims for young people and cover four elements of Outdoor Learning that can be delivered on a school/ youth club site and surrounding environment: The resource cards are divided into four areas of learning:
AWARENESS AND EXPERIENCE – Encouraging young people to experience the natural environment using a range of senses and to look at some of its component parts.
EXPLORE AND UNDERSTAND – Following on from first steps into the Environment comes the desire to explore it further and understand the many relationships that makes it what it is.
SUSTAIN AND CONSERVE – In developing an understanding of the Environment young people are encouraged to look at their impact on it and to develop a sense of stewardship in their long-term relationship with it.
CREATE AND SHARE – Appreciating our time in the natural environment and expressing how we feel towards the natural environment.
