Ten Piece Advice for CAS
by Rushil Dussain
The CAS program offers opportunities to try new things, have fun, and grow as a person. It
has provided me with diverse activities like sports, arts, and volunteering to learn and gain
new skills. I have thoroughly enjoyed participating and encourage others to get involved.
1. Plan ahead and set clear goals for your CAS program. Think about what you
want to achieve through your activities and make a plan for how you will get there.
2. Get organised. Set up a schedule or planner to keep track of your commitments and
progress. This will help you stay on top of your workload and ensure that you meet
your goals.
3. Seek out diverse opportunities. Don't just stick to activities that are easy or familiar
to you; challenge yourself by trying new things and expanding your horizons.
4. Be proactive in seeking out new experiences. Don't wait for opportunities to come
to you; take the initiative to find activities that interest you and sign up for them.
5. Reflect once a week on all your experiences. Instead of writing a reflection after
each activity, write down your reflections at the end of the week so you save time and
you don't feel overwhelmed.
6. Use voice reflection. Biggest hack for CAS is to voice record all your reflections as
it takes 10x less time than writing them down. Trust me, I did 10 thorough reflections
in 10 mins.
7. Seek out mentors and advisors. Talk to your teachers, school counselor, or other
trusted adults about your interests and goals. They can offer guidance and help you
find opportunities that align with your goals.
8. Work collaboratively with others. Whether you are participating in a team sport or
volunteering at a community event, try to be a positive and supportive team member.
9. Stay committed and motivated. It's easy to get sidetracked or lose motivation,
especially if you are balancing a lot of other commitments. Remember why you
signed up for your CAS program and stay focused on your goals.
10. Have fun! Your CAS program is an opportunity to try new things and have new
experiences. Don't take it too seriously and make sure to enjoy yourself along the
way.
In conclusion, the Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) program has been a fantastic experience
for me. It has given me the opportunity to try new things, have fun, and grow as a person
through a wide range of activities. I have learned new skills, made new friends, and had a lot
of fun along the way. I would highly recommend the CAS program to others and encourage
them to make the most of this amazing opportunity to challenge themselves and have a
good time.
