MBTI is an abbreviation of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It is an indicator for the personality type of one specific person showing his / her different psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make their decisions. It is named after the names of mum and her daughter, Myers and Briggs who are the creators of MBTI. They put a lot of time and effort to make MBTI based on the theory of well known psychiatrist Carl Jung from Swiss.
MBTI distributes people’s personality into 4 big categories.
Extroverted vs Introverted
Sensored vs Intuitives
Thinkers vs Feelers
Judgers vs Perceivers
They name the personality types with the first letter of these 4 categories and that creates 16 different kinds of personality types.
Your MBTI can be tested by 10 to 15 minute long questionnaires and the result will tell you what kind of person you are. This includes the type of friendship you like, your hobbies, love, and how you interact with your work and social life.
With this, you can understand other people’s decisions or their personality better and also more about yourself.
There are obviously some limitations in MBTI since it is impossible to justify someone just by one of the 16 personalities. When you use MBTI, you should also be aware that there is no good or bad in any of the 16 personalities. MBTI can help people understand their strengths and blind spots and how they might differ from others but not for judging them.
You can find the test on the internet easily by searching up ‘MBTI test’. If you are interested in knowing more about yourself and people around you, maybe you should go and try the MBTI test!
