Carnival Row is an American fantasy TV show based on Beacham's unproduced spec film, A Killing in the Carnival Row. The show is divided into two seasons of 9 episodes each.
Carnival Row consists about a Victorian fantasy world in which the society is divided into more than one species, there are humans and Fae, and the Fae include supernatural creatures such as:
Faeries named “pix”
Fauns named “pucks”
But collectively they call them “critch”
Who have been displaced by the wars of men.
In this season we can find a lot of political twists, character and relationship development, as well as a lot of murder mysteries, since Philo, the main character is an inspector of the Burgue (Where Carnival Row is located), which will investigate some dark and mysterious killings.
In this show, they play a lot with the colors and visuals. The costumes, designs, and makeup effects are cool since they applied vibrant colors into the pixs also giving a big contrast with the rest of the creatures and the place. They also use a lot of musical themes (They even got a nomination for it) that fit the ambiance of the scenes.
For fans who love to immerse themselves in a show’s history and mythology, Carnival Row could be a great and satisfying experience, but if you’re not prepared to invest time and concentration in the story, this probably isn’t the fantasy drama for you.
