The Middle School Technology program aims to provide students with a dynamic, hands-on learning experience, preparing them for advanced opportunities in high school and beyond. Through engaging, project-based learning, students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills while exploring modern and traditional technologies. Each grade level builds on the skills and concepts learned in previous years, scaffolding knowledge to foster confidence and mastery.
Students will work with a variety of tools and materials, including 3D printers, laser engravers, robotics systems, computer sciences, and 3D modeling software, as well as gain hands-on experience in traditional woodworking. Projects will challenge students to design, prototype, and create solutions, blending creativity with practical engineering skills. Assessments will include performance-based rubrics and tests to ensure a well-rounded understanding of both theory and application.
Objective: To ensure students and parents understand the classroom expectations, grading policy, course content, and consequences for the East Aurora Middle School Technology Program. This will come home as a handout that must be returned. This is a graded assignment! Check PowerSchool! I will hand out printed copies in class!
Key Takeaway: This class is all about participation and appropriate use of resources. Using tools and machines is an earned privilege, not a right. Students who choose inappropriate behavior will not be allowed the use of tools and machines and will complete alternative research based projects. This is a graded class with deadlines. Missed deadlines will result in lost points or 0's. Being unprepared with headphones or a charged Chromebook will often result in a loss of participation/preparedness points.
