The TeXpert program is dedicated to improving teaching practices and enhancing the use of technology in classrooms. Our program accomplishes this by providing a cohort of selected educators with monthly professional development, resources, individual coaching, and support from our instructional technology team. Through this program, TeXperts become leaders and advocates for technology-enhanced instruction, promoting its use to foster communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity among their students.
Our three-year program is designed to build teacher capacity and drive change at the classroom, campus, and district level. In the first year, the program will be focused on strengthening the effective use of technology in classrooms. One TeXpert from each campus (two from DHS) will be selected to participate in the cohort.
TeXperts will support the district's efforts to prepare students for success in the 21st century by equipping teachers with the skills and resources they need to use technology in the classroom effectively. The program utilizes the International Society of Technology Education (ISTE) standards for Educators to promote the integration of technology in teaching and learning. Participants will learn to leverage technology to teach digital citizenship, digital literacy, social-emotional learning skills, and the power of student reflections. TeXperts will be taught how technology can be used to differentiate and personalize learning to better equip students for the demands of a global society.
TeXperts produce a portfolio of work that demonstrates their ability to incorporate monthly challenges into their classroom curriculum. The portfolio serves as a qualitative measure of program success and reflections that will be utilized in one-on-one coaching sessions. After completing the program's first year, participants walk away with a Google Level 1 certification, chances to participate in District professional development on behalf of the technology department. Teachers submit proposals to the Texas Computer Education Association conference in year two to represent Duncanville ISD.
