The Guernica PBL project is a multi class project where we take information and knowledge from many classes to create related projects. The classes apart of the Guernica project is Chemistry, Art, ELA, and History. For the chemistry part of the Guernica PBL project I created the paint that was used in the Guernica PBL project. For the art side of the Guernica PBL project, which is the main part, I worked with Caliyah Dalton and Andrew Sugarman to create a piece of the big Guernica style art piece that was put in the PBL area of the 10th grade hall. Info on the art piece and what Guernica is below. For the ELA part of the Guernica PBL project I researched propaganda and used AI to create my own propaganda, you can see the propaganda I made below. For the history part of the Guernica PBL project we learned about the context and history behned the original Guernica painting.
The original Guernica painting was created by Pablo Picasso and is an anti war propaganda oil painting. it was commissioned b the Spanish government during the Spanish civil war. It was presented at the Paris world fair. It originally didn't have much impact but gained traction and popularity over time.
For the Guernica PBL project me and my group: Caliyah Dalton and Andrew Sugarman. Our theme was gun violence, you can see our anti gun symbol and guns shooting bullets through the American flag. These represent how gun violence is hurting society. It also has kids being held hostage and a destroyed ciy showing how all this leads back to guns being used. there are also guns being airdropped into the city showing how they encourage people to do harm. The paint we used was created by our very own hands as well. The proto type process is documented below
This was done in our ELA class based off the propaganda research we did. This is the description of the poster: This poster represents how Vladimir Putin's land grab is affecting the Ukrainian people and how you might not like him taking your land either. It represents the land as food on your plate, imagine if somebody leans over your plate and takes a piece of your food and just puts it on their plate. Food is a requirement to live and humans crave so taking it makes you emotionally react like he's as if something you might need to live. It also spares the villainization from the Russian people in general and narrows it down to just Vladimir Putin being the problem. I think this propaganda overall promotes peace and the sovereignty of smaller countries.
