Alexandra Price, an accomplished 11th-grade scholar at Drew Charter School, has demonstrated exceptional dedication to both her academic and musical pursuits. Over the past five years, she has been a key member of the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble, where her passion for music has flourished.
In 2022, Alexandra achieved a significant milestone by securing the prestigious George Wirth Scholarship for Music after a rigorous audition process, studying under the esteemed Angelica Hairston, facilitated by the First Presbyterian Church. The following year, she further distinguished herself by earning a coveted position as a fellow in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program, where she continues to refine her musical skills under the expert guidance of Mrs. Ellen Foster.
Alexandra’s talent extends far beyond the classroom. She actively participates in a variety of performances for nonprofit organizations and paid events across Atlanta and the state of Georgia. Notable performances include: the Atlanta Harp Center’s 15th Anniversary Concert with her teacher, Dr. Molly O’Roark; Spivey Hall at Clayton State University; The Classic Center in Athens, GA; and the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts. Most recently, she had the honor of performing at Ebenezer Baptist Church for their 2025 Easter service.
Since 2022, Alexandra has consistently excelled in the GMEA Solo and Ensemble competitions, earning 21 superior medals. In addition, she served as principal harpist in the GMEA All-State 11-12 Full Orchestra in both 2024 and 2025. Alexandra also performed as second harpist with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO). Her commitment to teaching and mentoring is evident in her volunteer work as a teaching assistant for the Urban Youth After-School Program, where she helps students of all ages prepare for their spring and winter concerts. In the 2024 Spring Concert, Alexandra had the opportunity to conduct the students performing “Step Skip Jump.”
Looking to the future, Alexandra aspires to pursue a double major in Music and Mechanical Engineering. She is particularly interested in working at the Lyon and Healy Factory in Chicago, where she hopes to combine her passion for music with engineering. Alexandra’s unwavering dedication, remarkable musical talents, and academic drive make her a standout student and performer with a bright future ahead.
