Dear Parents, 

Greetings to you!

It is with immense pleasure I would like to share with you that DPS Lava has been ranked No. 1 in Maharashtra for Integrated Learning by Education Today. DPS Lava has been adjudged as THE LEGEND at the Global Sustainability Awards 2023. Ms Shahnaaz Ojha won the Best Educator Award at the Global Sustainability Awards 2023. We have been ranked No. 2 in the City by Education World. IIHM felicitated the School Principal with the Principal Par Excellence Award. Our sports teams are doing a remarkable job. The Taekwondo team has won a tournament in Mumbai. They will be playing at the Nationals next month. It’s been raining awards, trophies and medals at DPS Lava!

 I am sharing a gist of what Integrated Learning is all about through this message with all of you.

 In our ever-evolving educational landscape, Integrated Learning has emerged as a powerful and transformative approach to education, transcending traditional boundaries and fostering a more comprehensive and holistic learning experience. This innovative method not only broadens students' horizons but also equips them with valuable skills and knowledge that serve them well throughout their lives. It is also known as interdisciplinary or cross-curricular teaching and is an educational approach that blurs the lines between subject areas and encourages the synthesis of knowledge across various disciplines. It promotes a more holistic understanding of concepts and real-world applications by integrating different subjects, themes, and skills within a single curriculum.

 In an Integrated Learning environment, students explore connections between subjects like science, mathematics, language arts, social science, and the arts. At DPS Lava these connections are facilitated through Project-Based Learning, Art integration, PE integration and IT integration classes. 

The following are the benefits of Integrated Learning:

Relevance to Real Life: Integrated Learning reflects the interconnectedness of the real world. It enables students to see how concepts and skills learned in one subject can be applied in another, making education more relevant and practical.

Critical Thinking: This approach encourages critical thinking and problem-solving by presenting students with complex, real-world problems that require them to draw upon a variety of skills and knowledge.

Creativity: Encouraging students to think outside the box. It sparks creativity by tackling complex problems and this way students develop innovative solutions.

Improved Communication Skills: Students practice effective communication when presenting their interdisciplinary projects. They learn how to articulate their ideas clearly and persuasively.

Deeper Understanding: It fosters a deeper understanding of subjects because it moves beyond rote memorization. The integration of multiple subjects and skills often results in higher retention of information. Students remember what they've learned because they can see its relevance and application. Students gain a more profound knowledge of a topic by exploring it from multiple angles and contexts. It also broadens their perspectives, enriching their overall outlook on the world.

Preparation for the Future: The real world doesn't segregate knowledge into subject areas. Integrated Learning prepares students for the multidisciplinary challenges they will face in their future careers.

Global Competence: In an increasingly globalized world, Integrated Learning nurtures global competence by encouraging students to explore different cultures, world issues, and global connections.
