Global Sustainability Award

Ms. Shahnaaz Ojha of DPS Lava Nagpur has been duly acknowledged and honoured at The Global Sustainability Awards 2023. This prestigious accolade serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional endeavors and accomplishments of students, educators and schools that have made noteworthy contributions to the advancement of sustainability. It stands as a testament to the potency of collective action in forging a world that is not only more sustainable but also more equitable. 

Principal Ms Anupama Sagdeo and the Psychology students of Grades XI and XII wearing the green ribbon - the official symbol of Mental Health Awareness Month to show schoolmates, colleagues, loved ones or simply those who walk past that we care about their mental health. Green signifies new life, new growth, and new beginnings. 

DAAN UTSAV - THE JOY OF GIVING

The DPS Lava family firmly believes that nurturing the spirit of giving, in children, is a crucial step towards making them socially conscious and guiding them to become better individuals.

From October 5th to 9th, Daan Utsav - the Joy of Giving Week was celebrated in the school. This festival is one of India's largest celebrations of generosity and the pure joy of giving. During this special week, the students of DPS Lava extended their hearts and hands to those in need. They generously donated food items to aid those affected by the recent floods in Nagpur City. Grade IX students played an active role in preparing 'Bags of Joy,' each filled with essential items such as rice, wheat flour, sugar and daal. Additionally, daily necessities were donated to an old age home and the old books found new homes when they were given to the needy children. Students also dedicated their efforts by doing  Shram-Daan by cleaning the school premises.

 The essence of Daan Utsav lies in building stronger communities and instilling values of compassion, selflessness and kindness. It is about spreading joy through the priceless gift of giving.

CONNECTING GENERATIONS: A DAY SPENT WITH SENIOR CITIZENS

Fostering empathy and compassion and inculcating moral values have always been the pillars of DPS Lava. With the same motive in mind, the Dipsites of Grade X were fortunate to be a part of the heartwarming initiative by the school to pay a visit to Shanti Bhavan - A home for the elderly on 05th October 2023.

 The engagement of the students in this community service created a positive impact on both, the students and the elderly. It gave the students an opportunity to connect with the elderly residents, listen to their stories, and learn valuable life lessons about kindness and sensitivity. The students interacted with the elderly, while the elderly were exuberant in the presence of these young, but mature hearts. The students witnessed the heartbroken but strong-willed elderly, who were living their Second Innings with complete jubilation and grit. The students also witnessed the handcraft of the residents and the dedication of the Nuns who with utter love and sensitivity were tending to the needs of mind, body and heart of the elderly. 

This exposure helped the students develop empathy and compassion, as they gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and joys of aging while interacting with the elderly. The students left with a deeper appreciation for the wisdom and experiences of our senior citizens, making it a memorable and enriching field trip.

Nukkad Natak- Swachhata Abhiyan

DPS Lava took a proactive step in promoting cleanliness and fostering a sense of responsibility towards a cleaner environment by organizing a Nukkad Natak (street play). The theme of the Nukkad Natak was "Swachhata Abhiyan." This impactful event took place at Sanvidhaan and Akashwani Chowk, Nagpur, on October 6th, 2023.

The street play was skillfully enacted by Grade X students and it effectively conveyed the significance of cleanliness in public spaces, homes and workplaces. It underscored the collective responsibility that all must share in ensuring a clean and healthy environment for everyone.

The Nukkad Natak concluded with a compelling call to action, urging all present to actively participate in the Swachhata Abhiyan. This entails adopting responsible waste management practices, maintaining personal hygiene and keeping public spaces clean.

The event's successful coordination was a joint effort  taken by Mrs. Nutan Rai, Mrs. Archana Badge, Mrs. Manisha Bambal and Mrs. Neelam Soni. Principal Ms. Anupama Sagdeo expressed her heartfelt appreciation for all participants, volunteers and supporters who contributed to the event's success. Such initiatives reaffirm DPS Lava's unwavering commitment to a cleaner and greener future.

Cleanliness Drive

In a dedicated effort towards community service and environmental consciousness, DPS Lava's Grade IX students conducted a comprehensive Cleanliness Drive at Chintamani Nagar on October 5th, 2023. This initiative was born from the shared vision of instilling a sense of responsibility and fostering a clean and hygienic environment within both the school premises and its surrounding areas.

 Guided by the school faculty and fueled by the active participation of students, the Cleanliness Drive aimed to instill values of cleanliness, discipline and civic responsibility in young minds. Beyond raising awareness, this hands-on experience nurtured a spirit of teamwork and social responsibility.

 The event received strong support and appreciation from the school administration, teachers and parents, all of whom recognize the importance of such initiatives in shaping responsible citizens for the future. This collective effort stands as a testament to DPS Lava's commitment to holistic education and community development.

Delhi Public School Lava Students Will Participate at NYAF 2023

Delhi Public School Lava has been chosen to participate in the National Young Authors' Fair 2023 (NYAF 2023). This event is the world's largest book-writing and publishing platform for students.

The students will have an opportunity to write their books on an AI-powered platform provided by BriBooks.com. They will be able to publish and promote their work as Entrepreneur Authors. The achievements of the students and school will be recognized on national and global media platforms; including Disney International HD, NDTV, Times of India and Education World. Participation is completely free.
