"SLC promotes a school culture of engagement and growth and asks students to play an active role in planning their own learning. By taking part in these activities, students are able to hone all-round skills, recapitulate and revise lessons effectively, and even apply knowledge in real-life situations," believes our Principal Ms. Anupuma Sagdeo.
Preparation for a conference creates an authentic purpose for good organizational and communication skills. The structure builds students’ sense of responsibility and accountability for their own learning
SLC's are here to stay....students feel empowered when they steer their own learning.
Self-advocacy is a proven determinant of academic success. Student-led conferences let learners build skills in a supportive environment.
In a student-led conference the role of the teacher is that of a facilitator in the conference process. Students lead their peers through a discussion of their work and established academic and social goals. The process includes the teacher facilitating several conferences at the same time. The student directs the conversation focused on their work.
The students of Grade V participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the SLC conducted on 8th October 2020. Students organized this conference and presented their work and shared what they have learnt. In this activity, students engaged in self-reflection of the learning process. The students were divided into groups. Each group of five members presented their parts beautifully. These sessions put the students in charge. It helped them accept responsibility. Learners led the session, giving both the students and the teachers insight into their work and their areas of struggle. Students presented drama, humorous poems, role plays and also presented stories created from a poem.
This helped students develop self evaluation and presentation skills.
