Quiz competitions like “Mindcraft” enable students to think from a broader perspective or simply ‘to think out of the box’. Quizzes, also give them an opportunity to hone their teamwork skills, reinvent the education system and give students a break from traditional classroom learning.

Ananya Khare of Grade VII A participated in the Elocution Competition conducted by the Rotary Club of Nagpur Vision on 18th October, 2020. She presented her thoughts and opinion on the topic, " Should Plastic be Banned or Restricted".
Ananya was adjudged a winner in this Preliminary round and will now proceed to Round II. This will be a Panel Discussion as part of the RCNV Weekly meetings.
We are proud of her!
Given below is her Prize winning entry...
In my opinion, restricting plastic is better than banning it because from morning till night we don't observe how many times we are using the plastic we use toothpaste tubes, bottles, etc.
Medical equipment is some of the items used for medical purposes. Metal and glass are strong materials but they cannot take the place of plastic.
We all know plastic is non-biodegradable and it takes 500 years to decompose.
It causes soil pollution and water pollution.
Burning plastic produces harmful smoke which causes air pollution.
Plastic bags can choke hazards for animal
Instead of banning plastic completely, we should find out the other solution. So, plastic waste management is a solution. We have some plastic waste management ideas:-
Restricting plastic bags and promoting cotton and jute bags will be better. We can also find out the alternative of plastic bags like - Ashwath Hegde from Mangalore invented biodegradable plastic bags.
2. We can restrict single-use plastic like - plastic food packaging, disposables, bottles, etc. Instead of using disposable, we can use leaf plates, bowls, etc. We can decorate our garden by reusing plastic bottles.
3. We can keep plastic wrapper and milk packets in a plastic bottle. And then we must give it to the recycler.
4. Plastic roads are being constructed in Jamshedpur, India. This technique was invented by Chemistry Professor Raja Gopalan Vasudevan.
5. There are even some smart bins that separate and treat the waste.
So, instead of banning if we follow the mentioned points and follow plastic waste management then we can control Plastic waste which is the actual problem. The banning of plastic would be very difficult to be implemented. So, I support the restriction of using plastic and plastic waste management.

Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the “reduce, reuse and recycle” waste hierarchy. BEST OUT OF WASTE is one such craft which follows this environmental friendly principle and at the same time creates useful and picturesque objects out of waste products. Students from Grade I to IX were asked to make a toy with waste material and present what they had made.
The focus of the activity was to create a platform to exhibit their creative talent and hone their communication skills. The children participated earnestly in the fun-filled activity and came up with amazing ideas. Children used the waste materials like plastic bottles, kinder joy cover, egg shells and cardboard and made vans, dolls, planes, Humpty Dumpty etc.
This activity also helped generate an awareness and building the attitude to take up activities in real world.
