This course summarizes all the skills and abilities acquired over the three years, in order to integrate the students’ training and mindfully guide them in consideration of their specific inclinations and potential, highlighted in their dissertation works.
It is divided in two modules:
Thesis Lab: different activities (lectures, projects and revisions) that revolve around the dissertation works submitted by the students and approved by the representative teacher for each area: Brand Design, Creative Direction and Visual Design. It closes and deepens the course of study within the chosen specialisation, also supporting all the phases of the thesis project (research, creativity, technical application, creation and presentation of the final work) with suitable methodologies.
Thesis Tutoring: this module supports the students in the preparation of their final exam. Its teaching method aims at developing the individual aptitudes acquired over the three-year course, with special attention to the complete creation of the thesis project (research, creativity, publishing and presentation).
The programme grants 12 credits, divided as follows:
THESIS LAB: 7 CFA
SYNTHESIS TUTORING: 5 CFA
Learning outcomes can vary depending on the project, that can in turn take very different shapes depending on the specific discipline. However, they normally concern the ability to synthesize into a project the ideas expresses by the thesis paper.
The contents of all activities are mainly focused on carrying out the thesis project, and are devised on the basis of the proposals, consistently with the chosen specialisation.
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Active classroom participation to debates
Exercises and revisions
There is no activities evaluation, since the goal of this course is to support the development of the final project. However, the referent teacher will issue an eligibility assessment both for the synthesis workshop and for the synthesis tutoring modules.
THESIS LAB:
Students will be monitored over the entire process, including the exercises that correspond with the necessary steps for the development of a consistent dissertation project (research, bibliography, layout, presentation) until they reach eligibility.
SYNTHESIS TUTORING:
Consists in reviews that are focused on finalizing the thesis project (visual and aesthetic synthesis); this module has as its final outcome obtaining an authorization by the thesis referent, that certifies the conclusion of the project and proves the elegibility for the dissertation.
Books and resources might be requested or suggested by the professors.
