APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The course prepares the students for the world of professional illustration in its contemporary scope, offering an overview that ranges from the acquaintance with genres and authors, to the main techniques and languages. It is aimed at the research of a personal style and to the acquisition of a mindful approach to the entire creative process: research, experimentation and targeting of the illustration project.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 4 credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Identify, understand and critically analyse illustration
Use different expression techniques
Develop comprehensive illustration projects, in complete autonomy, consistently with the brief
Illustration overview: disciplinary approaches and references
Basic elements of representation: theory and technique
Narration as a visual language
Expression techniques: traditional and digital pictorial approach
Development of a full-scale illustration project: research, creation and technical finishing
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
