APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
This theoretical and methodological course focuses on the understanding of the art publishing scenario that is crossed by digital transformation - social networking, digital publishing, online marketing, crowd-funding, open communication. It fosters awareness in the students’ cultural approach, which is crucial to the design of editorial systems and for the development of integrated projects that imply art/publishing hybrid competencies.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 4 credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Explain the historical and cultural context of art publishing
Carry out a critical and independent analysis of editorial cases, using the technical language of the subject
Devise original editorial concept
Introduction to the art publishing scenario: historical and cultural elements
Art publishing in the digital transformation era: the booming of independent publishing
The wide spreading of limited editions: Printed Matter Art Book Fair in New York and Los Angeles and the Independent Art Fair in New York
Relation among images, content, materials and printing techniques
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Mid-term written exam
Completion of comprehensive projects
