APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The purpose of this course is to provide understanding, support and the necessary tools to design and manufacture working lighting objects. By reviving the idea of “techné”, that is the concurrence of art and technique, it provides student with basic knowledge and enables them to develop their ideas through manual and instrumental activities. Particular attention is devoted to the possibility of processing synthetic materials, in particular metacrilate, optical fibres, LEDs as well as photovoltaic cells, into applications aimed at the project.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 4 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Master the tools needed to design and manufacture lighting objects
Become familiar with the different light sources of lamp products
Design lighting objects from concept to working prototypes
Technology of polymers and technopolymers
Technology of optical ducts
LED Technology
Photovoltaic technology
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Oral exam
Graded exercises/revisions
Completion of comprehensive projects
Submission of exercises, projects or research work
Further details about the exams will be provided by the professors.
