APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
Over the year, students are requested to complete a project that considers all functional, typological, structural and technical aspects of the furniture world. The project must show: the ability to manage all social, economic, environmental and meaning implications that it will produce, as well as the context dynamics that it will change; the ability to define scenarios in the medium and long term; the ability to foresee possible technological systems evolutions and their potential integration in the complex background of social and cultural dynamics.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 6 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Analyse the traits of furniture brands
Be familiar with the historical and contemporary world of furniture
Develop a project, from concept to prototyping, on a scaleStudy spaces as important communication tools
Translate otherwise expressed ideas and stories into space
Complete an exhibit and retail design project, emphasizing its experiential aspect
Analysis of furniture products already on the market
Analysis of furniture companies
Designers’ languages in the furniture world
Understanding of the technical aspects of furniture manufacturing
Furniture projects from concept to market
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Oral exams
Completion of comprehensive projects
Submission of exercises, projects or research works
