Schools that support family engagement in boosting at-home digital use can expect better outcomes.
As part of the VILS and LAUSD Practitioner School 6.0 program, South Gate Middle School students build their technological skills and are empowered as creative communicators across all content areas. Technology is leveraged to create accessible, inclusive, and equitable classrooms that foster student voice and choice. Our teachers collaborate around and apply their learning from all professional developments offered by Verizon, the district, and the school Instructional Leadership Team to leverage technology in their classrooms.
Teachers utilize technology to engage students, connect with and build community with students, create collaborative classroom environments, provide actionable and immediate feedback, and foster a culture of metacognition and reflection.
South Gate Middle School teachers continue to leverage technology to create accessible, inclusive, and equitable classrooms that foster student voice and choice. Our data demonstrates that we are making significant gains in student technology use in the classroom. As a result, we are allowing students to become Creative Communicators and leverage technology to meet the demands of a 21st century classroom.
84% of our teachers allow students to use their device to create content at least once a week.
