To close the digital learning gap, we must make sure that students have access to technology and high-speed internet outside of school.
100% of our students were issued a device for daily use. It is the expectation that ALL students bring their devices daily, fully charged and ready to use. At the time of the report(December 2021), CSK had a total of 27 laptops needed to be serviced for some type of damage during semester 1. In comparison to other schools with larger populations, this number is not large but still too many by the CSK standard. Most damage was hardware damage due to negligence. After analyzing the data and recognizing the majority of damage issues, next steps are to inquire about cases for students to decrease the amount of broken and/or cracked screens.
Before devices were distributed to students, all students were mandated to return the Digital Bridge Device User Agreement to the VILS Coach. After the user agreement was submitted, the student was instructed to complete an Nearpod course on Digital Citizenship created by the VILS Coach from a database of course developed by APS. The middle school and high school had two separate tailored courses based off of need per demographic.
School-wide protocols are strictly enforced by the VILS Coach, TLC members, administration and teachers. Poster sized signage is placed on each hallway and outside the VILS Coaches office for easy student view and recognition.
