Second Grade

K-3, General Music, 30 minute classes on a rotating schedule year round.  There will be one grade level performance at the Deforest HS Performing Arts Center.

In Second Grade, students will learn:

• Rhythms - longer durations (rhythm syllables, ta- ah, ta, ti ti, sh)

• Music expression (i.e. volume, speed, one and many voices)

• Introduction to the staff - Solfege - aural skills, pitch, and sight-reading of music, steps, skips, leaps

• Instrument families

• Play various pitched and unpitched percussion instruments 

• Musical games and activities
