First Grade

K-3, General Music, 30 minute classes on a rotating schedule year round.  There will be one grade level performance at the Deforest HS Performing Arts Center.

In First Grade, students will learn:

• Steady beat

• Basic rhythms (using rhythm syllables- ta, ti ti, sh)

• Music expression (i.e. volume, speed, one and many voices)

• Melodic contour

• Pitch matching

• Instrument families

• Play various pitched and unpitched percussion instruments 

• Musical games and activities
