DBS is governed by the Board of Directors and the DBS Advisory Board. The DBS Advisory Board meets once a term (three times per year).
The Board of Directors and the DBS Advisory Board are responsible for determining the strategic direction of the school. It sets and reviews the policies, plans and procedures that will ensure the best possible education for present and future students of the school, including the proper control of its finances.
It looks to the Headmaster to help formulate and then to implement them. Acting within that framework, the Headmaster and his team manage and administer the school with the support of Directors of the School and the DBS Advisory Board.
The professional executive management of the school is led by the Headmaster who is responsible for the operation of the School on a day to day basis. The Headmaster and the Bursar (through the Headmaster) report to the Board of Directors.

Specialist teaching is a feature of DBS. In Nursery and Reception, the children benefit from specialist teaching in Thai, Music and Swimming, with Mandarin and PE introduced from Reception and Computing introduced from Y1.
From Year 5, children will be taught by a greater number of specialist teachers and from Year 7 they are taught by specialists in every subject. This approach will allow all DBS children to develop deeper skills, knowledge and understanding of each subject as they progress through the Prep school and into the Senior School at Year 9.
