Uniform and Equipment
All students at DBS wear the DBS uniform and it is the expectation that they wear it correctly with pride. The uniform regulations constitute part of the conditions signed by parents when they accept a place for their child at the school.
In order to maintain the standards of the school required, the Headmaster’s ruling is final in any matters concerning dress, appearance, kits and bags, although responsibility for the day to day implementation of these regulations is delegated to members of staff.
All children must wear the school uniform correctly to and from school and for all occasions when they are representing the school, including school visits and sports fixtures. Exceptions to this will be notified by the member of staff in charge of the event. If you require any clarification of the regulations, you must discuss these with the relevant Head of Section at your earliest convenience.
We ask that all items of clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and class.
All DBS uniforms and bags are available in the DBS shop, located in the reception area in D3.
(Please note that the DBS shop does not stock shoes, trainers and swimming goggles)
This year, we have had the following recent updates to uniform:
MD - Y2 students to be allowed to wear plain black trainers
Y3-Y8 are allowed black leather shoes
Y3 and above to wear school tie
All students to wear House shirts on a Friday
Any colour trainers to be used for PE/Sport
In Year 12 and 13, students wear business attire for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. They can wear their Sixth Form Polo shirts on Wednesday and their house shirts on Fridays.
It is essential for the appearance of all students to be compatible with their attendance at a uniformed school, which has high expectations of good behaviour. The uniform regulations above constitute part of the conditions signed by parents when they accept a place for their child at the School.
Jewellery
For reasons of safety and hygiene, girls are permitted to only wear 1 pair of small stud earrings. Simple watches (not Apple watches etc.) may be worn from Y2 upwards provided they are clearly identified and that they are not too elaborate in design. Children should not wear any other form of jewellery to school. The School cannot be responsible for loss or damage to watches or personal possessions.
Hair Styles
Hair should be kept neat and tidy at all times. Students with long hair should wear it tied back for school with a navy bobble, scrunchie or hairband. Plain hair clips may also be worn. Although the dying of hair is permitted, only natural hair colours are accepted.
