Senior: Y10 and 11
All students will take the core IGCSE subjects of English, Mathematics and the Sciences. Additionally, the students can choose up to 4 Additional Subjects as part of the IGCSE options process. The IGCSE Examinations are normally sat during May/June at the end of Y11, though students on an accelerated pathway will be entered for early entry Mathematics in May/June of Y10. Students in Y10-Y11 will continue to have one afternoon of games every week and will continue their tutorial programme started in Y9. University and Career Guidance will continue and students will be encouraged to undertake ‘Work Experience’ during the summer break after completion of Y11.
Y10-11 Core IGCSE Subjects:
English - either English Literature and Language or English as a Second Language
Mathematics
Further Mathematics (for accelerated pathway students)
Science - taught as Biology, Chemistry and Physics leading towards a Single, Double or Triple Award in Science
Thai (for Thai passport holders)
Y10-11 Optional IGCSE Subjects:
The Y9 students, in preparation for Y10, will be able to choose up to 4 optional IGCSE subjects, though all Thai passport holders must choose First Language Thai as one of their options. The rest of the subjects will be organised in an options table, from which students must make their choices. The options table is set up to ensure that the majority of students are able to make their preferred subject choices.
