Description:The tree can reach a height of 20 to 25 meters with a spreading canopy. Dark brown, rough bark with deep vertical fissures. The leaves are simple, alternate, oval, with smooth edges and a shiny surface. The flowers are small, greenish-white, grouped on long stalks. The fruit is a small, flaat, winged samara.

Holoptelea integrifolia has been used in traditional medicine for its many medicinal properties. The bark, leaves and seeds are used to treat various ailments such as fever, dysentery, diarrhoea, asthma and skin diseases. The wood from the tree is also used to make furniture, agricultural tools and as fuel. The tree is considered sacred in some cultures and used in religious ceremonies.
