To find a service site that fits your interests, experiences, skills, or pursuits, our staff recommends the following:
Utilize the Center of Civic Engagement Community Opportunities site. The site is home to a myriad of volunteering opportunties and internships which our community partners have requested Davidson students to fulfill. Each posting has a description and how to contact the organziation.
Search Share Charlotte. This is similar to our Community Opportunities site but for the general public and has a hundreds of partners seeking volunteers, interns, donors, and event participants.
Reach out to organizations who might not have a volunteer opportunity or internship posted online but you are interested in their work. Utilize this email template to get you started.
Email tips:
Be professional in tone. Start the email by addressing the subject and end by signing off with a "Sincerely" or "Best Regards".
If you aren't sure who to send an email to at an organization, check their staff page for a Volunteer Coordinator or Program Manager role.
Be patient and allow a few days for a response. If you need to follow up on the initial request, find your original email and forward that with your new message.
