BWBRS Requirements & Stipend Information
As per the requirements of your Bonner Scholarship, each Bonner is to complete 140 hours of service and training and enrichment each semester. All hours completed need to be entered into the Bonner Web-based Recording System (affectionately known as B-Webers and abbreviated as BWBRS).
Service is completed primarily through a singular community partner and augmented through other opportunities through regular or occasional service.
Training and enrichment is completed primarily through Monday Meetings and augmented through other on- and off-campus opportunities such as speakers, workshops, or trainings.
Payment Information
In order to receive your Bonner stipend, your Community Learning Agreement, service and training and enrichment hours, and Service Accomplishment need to be entered on BWBRS. For sophomores, juniors, and seniors, see below for details on when payments are requested. First Years, check this page for your class-specific requirements.
BWBRS entries are reviewed on Fridays and requests for stipend payments are then made to Business Services. Once requested, Bonner Scholars receive payment within 1 to 2 weeks.
1st payment of each semester
Requested at the beginning of the semester after the following are completed:
The current semester's CLA has been submitted and approved.
Your previous semester has been closed-out.
Your summer of service (if you did one) is completed.
2nd payment of each semester
These requests begin after Fall Break or Spring Break (depending on the semester).
To ensure you all are not over awarded, payments will be made progressively. If you do not log 70 hours by week 8, payment will not be requested. You will then need to log 80 hours by week 9 to get paid. And so on. See the list below of the hour pace.
70 hours by week 8
80 hours by week 9
90 hours by week 10
100 hours by week 11
110 hours by week 12
120 hours by week 13
130 hours by week 14
140 hours at end of semester
If you do not keep on pace with logging hours, you may not receive the 2nd payment of Fall until after all hours are logged and signed off on.
If hours are under 140, the amount of stipend will be proportional to that hour requirement.
Bonner Scholars are permitted to "make up" hours over Winter Break. Hours up to December 31 are counted towards Fall semester. Hours completed from January 1 on will be counted towards Spring.
If you have a deficit of hours in the fall semester and your fall stipend reflects that, you can still make up the hours and dollars in Spring. The full stipend would be released at the completion of the Spring semester.
If you submit a CLA, are issued the first stipend payment, and fail to reach 70 hours, the Bonner Scholars Program may recall scholarship funds in proportion to the hour deficit. This action results in a bill to your student account.
As always, please reach out if you encounter challenges that prevent you from keeping on pace with hours or completing the full requirement of hours. Hour adjustments can be made for situations including but not limited to prolonged personal illness or death of a loved one, but we must know about the challenges in advance or shortly thereafter.
First years and sophomores should reach out to Hannah Gilbert for such accommodations.
Juniors and seniors should reach out to Christina Eggenberger for such accommodations.
The last day in 2025 that BWBRS will be reviewed for payment requests is December 12. Payment requests will resume January 16, 2026. After payments are requested by Bonner Scholar Program staff, Bonners can expect to receive the payment within 2 weeks.
Payments will not be requested the week of Spring Break due to staff travel on the first-year trip.
The last day in 2026 to request payment for graduating seniors is May 8.
The last day in 2026 to request payment for all other Bonner classes is May 15.
If you fall significantly behind your requisite 140 hours (reaching 75% of your hours or less) in the Fall semester, your 4th and final stipend of the academic year will be adjusted for your total hours for the year. You will not receive your last stipend of the academic year until you close out your CLA at the end of the Spring semester. Please plan accordingly as this might leave you with a bill outstanding at the end of the semester.
Wellness Hours
To encourage wellness and balance, all Bonner Scholars can log up to 1 hour a week for 8 hours total for the semester doing wellness activities. This might include some type of fitness, time in nature or meditation, or catching up with family or friends away from campus. You can read more more about the 8 aspects of the Wellness Wheel here.
This should be logged in BWBRS under Training and Enrichment as the "Wellness Wheel Challenge".
Bonner Love Hours
To encourage community amongst Bonner Scholars, all members of the program can log up to 5 hours a semester doing activities that support other Bonners here at Davidson College. This might include attending a game to cheer on a Bonner athlete on a varsity or club team or attending a theater, music, or dance performance which a Bonner is part of.
This should be logged in BWBRS under Training and Enrichment as the "Bonner Love Hours"
Suggestions to Make up Hours
Volunteer over break. If you go home for a break, volunteering at a local nonprofit is encouraged. You’ll need to submit an Hours Approval Form so the organization can be entered into BWBRS.
Participate in an Alternative Break Trip or other school-sponsored/supported volunteer opportunity. In the past, Bonner Scholars have used grants from various offices to support global volunteering.
Participate in Bonner Book Club. This usually happens over Winter Break and may be an option in the Summer. These book clubs are dependent on Bonners taking the lead 😊. Contact Bonner staff if you are interested in leading and organizing.
If it's in your capacity, you can volunteer over 140 hours a semester. Please know that we want you to prioritize your personal wellbeing and academic success, so this is not our first suggestion.
