The Bonner Scholars Program hosts an orientation for first-years prior to New Student Orientation. Bonners have the opportunity to interact and build community with other members of their class. Bonner Orientation allows the newest Bonner Scholars to meet with staff, alumni, and community partners, providing a unique introduction to Davidson College.

As you are new to Davidson College, there is a lot to acclimate to. The first semester, your stipends will be issued regardless of your milestones in BWBRS. Please take this grace and learn the processes anyway. You will be expected to abide by the timelines in the Spring Semester but with a marginally different hour requirement than in future years.
Your first semester, you will be expected to complete 100 hours inclusive of hours at your CLA, supplemental hours at other sites and opportunities, and your training and enrichment (Monday meetings and other things you attend that relate to the Bonner Common Commitments).
Your second semester you will be expected to complete 120 hours. Keep in mind that your first-year trip will add 60 hours over that week. Since you only need to reach a 120 hour total this means you won’t need as many hours at a CLA as needed during other semesters. If you are going to reduce your hours at your CLA, we want you to still provide consistency for the entire semester. This may mean doing fewer hours each week instead of stopping mid-semester after reaching 120 hours. We want partners to be able to count on you for the duration of the semester.
All Freshmen Bonners are required to take part in the Spring Break trip. Save the dates of Spring Break for a very memorable service trip with your cohort! It is led by the Bonner professional staff and two upperclassmen Bonners. All necessary expenses are covered as part of your Bonner scholarship. Our program goes to Charleston, South Carolina, to enjoy a mix of impactful service, historic and cultural learning, bonding activities, and fun in the sun!
