Research your location using EIU Viewpoint, available through Dartmouth Library.
For some faculty-directed programs, the program or university partner may provide public transportation passes for a portion or the full duration of the program so that students can commute to classes and attend mandatory excursions. Details on if this is covered as part of living expenses can be found in the Program Budget Sheet NOTES section.
However, funding for personal travel onsite is not included in the budget, so please budget personal funds if you plan to travel on your own.
Students on exchange programs are responsible for managing their own transportation costs.
Generally, students on exchange programs live on or within a short distance of the host institution and can commute to class independent of any transportation service.
On-site transportation estimates are included in the Miscellaneous category in each program’s budget sheet.
The Guarini Institute provides program-specific guides for faculty-directed programs which include details about transportation upon arrival, packing suggestions, safety information, specific contacts, academic information, etc.
Program-specific supplemental information, also known as the “Program Guide” will be emailed to you and added to your program application documents tab in the student portal two months before your program departure. Please ensure you read and understand the program guide in its entirety before you attend the Guarini-sponsored live pre-arrival orientation.
The Guarini Institute may provide program-specific information for exchanges which includes details about the application process and location.
