Students can reach out to faculty directors, the exchange coordinator or host institution, the Guarini Institute, and study away mentors for assistance.
The Guarini Institute provides leadership and direction for the Collegeās rich portfolio of credit-bearing off-campus programs.Ā
All email communications from our office will be sent to your Dartmouth email from our staffās Dartmouth email, our program partnersā email, Guarini.Institute@Dartmouth.edu, and/or dartmouth@terradotta.com so please be sure to add the latter address to your safe sender's list to prevent important emails from going to your spam folder.Ā
If you have questions, please email Guarini.Institute@Dartmouth.edu
If you have any questions about your program, you may contact one of our study away mentors (SAMs).Ā
SAMs are undergraduate students who have studied away at least once on a Guarini Institute off-campus program and are available to talk with you about their questions and concerns regarding all things study away.Ā
A SAM will be assigned to your program cohort the term preceding your term away. They serve as panelists during the live pre-arrival orientation session. SAMs conduct email outreach to your cohort so you will have ample opportunity to communicate and meet with them throughout the term preceding time off-campus.Ā
Faculty directors provide the academic, intercultural, and administrative leadership that enables the program to succeed. While off-campus programs vary in format, faculty directors usually teach one course and supervise the overall program curriculum.Ā
They work with local faculty and staff to ensure that the grades for all courses are recorded at the end of the term.Ā
In addition to their teaching role, they supervise and direct students in the academic and intercultural goals of the program both before departure and during the program.Ā
They are also responsible for the supervision and welfare of the participants in the program.Ā
Contact the Exchange Institution coordinator listed on the program page on our website for more information.Ā
Partners are carefully selected and provide a variety of customized support services including a comprehensive orientation, support for program logistics and payments, and assistance with participant health, safety, and security matters.Ā
Our partners are often headquartered in the US while having well-trained staff that support study away programs year-round at the program location.Ā
In our strive to continuously strengthen program offerings, the Guarini Institute retains control of program design and academic quality with suggestions from program partners.Ā
Students will be informed early on in the post-decision process if the program works with a partner. Information about the program partner coordinator onsite will be added to the Program Guide.
For questions about Exchanges, contact the Guarini Institute Program & Exchanges Manager, Noelle Warinsky.
All courses you take during an off-campus term will contribute to your GPA (Grade Point Average).
