At Key Stage 5, we congratulate Emma Carey who attained 3 A*s and will go on to read Biochemistry at Bristol University and Reggie Wilson who attained 2 A*s and an A grade and will also study at Bristol, reading Environmental Geoscience. Curtis Harvey-Lee attained an A*, 2 A grades and a Distinction* and will read Computer Systems Engineering at Sheffield University while Holly Montague is joining the Fire Service with an impressive 2 Distinction*s and a Distinction.

Most notably, the school’s A* - B grades are an improvement upon 2019, the last set of comparable data.

Equally as pleasing as their attainment is the progress our students have made. Again Curtis Harvey-Lee is to be congratulated on achieving A Level grades that were all a minimum of 2 grades above those set as targets.  Similarly, the following students also exceeded their target grades by at least 2 grades: Hayden Eschle in Mathematics and Physics and Tayo Aderinokun in Chemistry. In our vocational offer, Faye Dickens, Jodie Hood, Amelia Johnson and Holly Montague all performed exceptionally well across Travel and Tourism, Business, Science and Food and Nutrition, and in our Technical Offer, Amy Parker, Mary Fedarb and Rebecca Lee showed exceptional performance in Dance and Sport.

In total 42 students from The John Warner School secured a place at university with 30 of these students securing a place at their first-choice university. 6 of our Year 13 alumni will attend Russell Group universities.

At GCSE, our very warm congratulations go to Rhiana Drew and Daniel Ryan, both of whom gained a clear sweep of grades 9 to 7 in 10 or more subjects. Equally exceptional is the attainment of Mia Cran with 8 GCSEs at grades 9 to 7, 3 of these being a grade 9. Charlie Brown and Diara Zeqiri each gained 2 grade 9s with Charlie gaining 9 grades and Diara 8 grades at 9 to 7.

In terms of progress, Elijah Acquet exceeded his targets by a minimum of one and a half grades per subject, most notably gaining grade 7s in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, while a further 7 students exceeded their targets by a minimum of one grade per subject: Isabella Clamp, Max Peat, Samuel Carter, Daniel Ryan, Mia Cran, Elisa Ramelle-Rigollet and Callum Pickersgill. Their resilience, determination and sheer hard work have given them, rightfully, the opportunities and praise they so richly deserve.

Our deep thanks go to all parents and carers who have continued to support their children and our school during what has been a particularly difficult year.
