District Vision from 2025 Strategic Plan

As a District, for every student in every school we commit to providing:

·      a culture encouraging student perseverance and resiliency;

·      a growth mindset for students and adults;

·      a commitment to the whole child and each student’s social-emotional well-

·      being;

·      a collaborative, team-oriented learning culture;

·      a curriculum connected to students’ interests, experiences, talents and the

·      real world

·      an environment where creativity, curiosity, and responsible risk-taking

·      are encouraged

Students today need 21st-century learning skills in order to grow as global learners.

21s century learning requires organizations to meet the current requirements of our standardized tests while also striving to achieve the 4Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The skills needed for success in college and career are becoming increasingly complex, and schools must rise to meet new demands.

21st-Century Skills in the Classroom

The learning skills of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication are top desired skills in today's work-space and are also highly prized in the classroom.

The literacy skills of being able to understand information, decipher and create media and use technology to create and produce authentic products are key skills in a data-driven world.

While practicing these skills students can gain flexibility in learning and in design, leadership in projects, and communication.  Students also gain initiative and productivity as they productively struggle through projects that require critical thinking and design.

Students gain social skills through collaboration with peers and presenting to the class topics they choose and develop based on their own ideas and authentic research.
