Hello, you Scroll readers. The months of March to May are filled with multiple fun events. In a normal year, there’s Boatnik, camping, track season, and AP testing. This year, we had all of these fun activities, but the best were clearly AP testing and Track and Field. As a Track and Field athlete myself, I know a thing or two about the meaning of the sport and I can give you some accurate information about what went down.
The season was 6 weeks long, with a total of 10 meets. There were 4 dual meets, 3 varsity meets, and 2 exclusive meets (Frosh/Soph-only meet and distance-only meet). In a normal season, there are 14 meets, but having 10 was enough and worth it to be able to have a Track season.
This season, there were numerous guidelines put in place, but the athletes persevered through it and still gave it their all. This season, both JV and Varsity teams got 1st place at every single dual meet. Both varsity teams were crowned the 2021 SWC champions! Some of the athletes have been training since the summer of 2020, off and on. There were a few separate month-long opportunities the coaches had to help improve or try our new events outside of the main season.

Seeing the kids break out of their shells-- talking, laughing, having a good time, and bonding.
Being frustrated with the unfair guidelines being placed upon our athletes. We’re the only state that requires masks in running competitions.
After losing a year, it makes things more enjoyable with what you do have. With 2021, you appreciate the little things you do have
Definitely Coach Zaina because he coaches both sprinters, throwers, hurdlers, is able to do weight training, and play shipwrecked with you guys. He is willing to do anything for our team.
