The Cavite State University - Carmona successfully conducted the 5th Student Research Congress, with the theme "SIKAP: Sustainable Innovations for Knowledge Advancement and Progress", on June 4, 2025 (Wednesday). This annual academic gathering served as a dynamic platform to showcase student-led research across various disciplines, reinforcing the institution's commitment to cultivating a culture of innovation, scholarly inquiry, and community responsiveness.
The event commenced with the Opening Program at 8:00 AM, featuring key university officials. Dr. Carlo Emil B. Mañabo, Research Services Coordinator, formally welcomed the participants. Dr. Jenny Beb F. Espineli, Campus Administrator, delivered an inspiring message highlighting the role of research in nation-building and sustainable development. Two plenary sessions followed: the first was delivered by Mr. Leonard V. Paunil, who tackled the Gender and Development Approach in Research, and the second by Prof. Cereneo S. Santiago, who discussed Maximizing Research Impact: From Publication to Community Engagement. Both sessions concluded with open forums that encouraged vibrant academic exchange.
In the afternoon, simultaneous paper presentation sessions were held across different research clusters, each facilitated by designated moderators and evaluated by academic experts. The presentations represented a wide array of research disciplines:
Business Management category featured topics on consumer behavior, organizational climate, brand trust, and the influence of social media.
Hospitality Management category highlighted sustainability and nutrition through novel products like moringa noodles, probiotic beverages, and savory ice cream using underutilized ingredients.
Teacher Education Category presented studies on mathematical performance, academic engagement, and gender expression.
Information Technology and Computer Science category introduced software innovations such as document tracking systems, blockchain-based alumni profiles, and automated agricultural and hospitality devices.
Computer Engineering and Industrial Technology category featured innovative and functional designs including sensor-integrated training dummies for Arnis athletes, automated microcontroller-based cocktail systems for hospitality students, and NFC-based shuttle service management systems. The industrial technology presentations also introduced mechanized solutions such as an automated coconut leaf and midrib separator, automatic copra drying machine, and sugar palm (kaong) boiler machine—demonstrating practical engineering applications that address real-world challenges in agriculture, sports training, and transportation systems.
These presentations not only underscored the creativity and research rigor of the students but also emphasized their responsiveness to community needs, technological advancement, and environmental sustainability.
At the Closing Program, certificates were awarded to all presenters, reactors, and facilitators, with special recognition given to the Best Paper Awardees in each cluster. Prof. Shiela L. Vidallon, Chair of the Department of Arts and Sciences, delivered the closing remarks, commending the participants for their academic excellence and urging them to continue pursuing research that drives progress.
The event was professionally and efficiently moderated by faculty members and student leaders, including Mr. Antonino Jose L. Bayson, Ms. Janine B. Bacosmo, and others. The entire congress was marked by collegial spirit, intellectual rigor, and the celebration of student research excellence.
With over 50 student presenters and a strong presence of faculty mentors, reactors, and evaluators, the 5th Student Research Congress (SIKAP) truly embodied its mission of fostering sustainable innovations and knowledge advancement within the CvSU-Carmona community.

Each session provided a focused platform for student researchers to present their studies, receive constructive feedback from faculty evaluators, and engage in scholarly dialogue with their peers—marking the beginning of an intellectually stimulating and discipline-driven segment of the congress.

For the Business and Management category, Dr. Melona I. Saquin and Dr. Ritch M. Banate served as the Technical Evaluators/Discussant, offering valuable insights and constructive feedback on research studies focusing on consumer behavior, service quality, organizational climate, workplace satisfaction, and branding strategies. Their expert evaluation guided student presenters in strengthening the practical relevance and academic rigor of their work.
In the Hospitality and Food Innovation category, Mr. Ferdie S. Andullan and Prof. Jeffrey B. Aguilla acted as Technical Evaluators/Discussants, providing expert critique on food product innovations such as moringa noodles, probiotic beverages, savory ice cream, and functional frozen yogurt. Their insights highlighted the importance of sustainability, sensory acceptability, and market relevance in hospitality research.
For the Education and Social Sciences category, Prof. Robert Jan R. Bayan and Mr. Ryan S. Cutamora served as Technical Evaluators/Discussants, providing critical feedback on student research focusing on mathematical performance, academic satisfaction, gender expression, and the use of technology in language learning. Their evaluation emphasized methodological soundness and educational relevance, encouraging student researchers to adopt inclusive and evidence-based approaches in their studies.
For the Information Technology and Computer Science category, Mr. Angelo G. Macha and Mr. Felix Philip Almendral served as Technical Evaluators/Discussants, providing expert assessment of innovative digital systems such as document tracking platforms, appointment management tools, alumni verification using blockchain, and inventory forecasting solutions. Their evaluation emphasized the functionality, user experience, system reliability, and real-world application of the projects—highlighting the importance of technology in addressing institutional and community needs.
Lastly, for the Computer Engineering and Industrial Technology category, Dr. Brandon G. Sibbaluca and Prof. Richard L. Hernandez served as Technical Evaluators/Discussants, assessing a range of hardware-based innovations such as sensor-integrated Arnis training dummies, automated cocktail systems, NFC-based shuttle service management, and mechanized agricultural machines like coconut midrib separators and sugar palm (kaong) boilers. Their technical expertise guided the evaluation of each project’s design, functionality, and real-world application—emphasizing the role of engineering and industrial technology in solving local and sectoral challenges.
Following the recognition of the evaluators and discussants, the program moved to one of the most anticipated parts of the 5th Student Research Congress—the awarding of Best Paper winners. This segment celebrated the outstanding research works that demonstrated excellence in content, methodology, innovation, and relevance to real-world challenges. Selected from each academic category, the Best Paper awardees were recognized for their exceptional contributions and academic rigor. The awarding highlighted not only the students’ hard work and collaboration with their advisers but also the university’s commitment to nurturing high-quality, impactful research. Applause and pride filled the venue as the winners were called, marking a fitting culmination to a day dedicated to research excellence.

Their study, “Level of Academic Satisfaction, Engagement, and Technology Integration in English Language Learning of BSE English Sophomore Students at Cavite State University – Carmona Campus,” was recognized for its educational relevance, thorough methodology, and contribution to improving language instruction in the digital age.
