Anna's Sunflower Warriors Walkathon
by Julia Llewellyn
On Saturday, June 7th, there was a walk to honor Anna LaBella. She was a student here at CVA who unfortunately passed away from cancer. While she was still with us they hled a field day for her at Jarvis, but now that she has passed it has turned into a walk for cancer.
Sudents at the high school were invited to raise money and complete the walk. The walk started at 12:30 and had about 50 walkers who all walked three miles, which is a total of 12 laps. Each participant was asked to wear yellow, for the theme of the walk was yellow and sunflowers. The money raised went to the Albany Medical Center.
At the event there were a few games on the turf, two food trucks, and the concession stand was open. Inside the main gym was a craft fair with multiple vendors. The day was filled with fun and many showed up to support this cause.
