Our school's cafeteria workers are some of the most important people in our school who help out behind the scenes more than anyone could imagine. Someone in particular who has always been a positive influence is Jackie Moorehouse. She is a mother of 4 and has always cared for others. She has spent the last 2 - 3 years helping out our school's lunch line, specifically the salad bar. Unfortunately, she fell sick very quickly and found out she has Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer, and is staying in Rochester. When her fellow cafeteria workers found out, they knew they had to do something. Megan Harvey, who runs one of the lunch lines, and Hayley Metz, who works behind the counter making food, both wanted to make a change and show their support for her.
They decided to raise money to help offset some of the travel expenses for her family to see her, and anything else she may need. They have placed little jars in all the lunch lines, the bistro, and all the faculty rooms too! They say “Jingle for Jackie.” They have decorated for her with a poster thermometer that is rising as the money raised goes up. Currently the goal is to raise $1,000, and they are at $540 and can't wait to raise more to help her in every way possible!
The have put up many posters, and they have a purple peep in the salad bar to represent her and her love for purple and spring! Please make sure to stop in the cafeteria and donate if you can to show your love and support for Jackie and her family during this tough time.
