CVA's Winter Dance
by Haylie Grescheck & Athena Renshaw
The Semi-formal Snowflake Dance and corn hole tournament, which was hosted by the class of 2027 on January 27th, 2025, surprised many students because this was a new activity. A few of the teachers, when asked, have pointed out that they believe that this is the first dance, other than the military ball and occasionally the senior ball, that has been hosted in the winter. An interview was organized with one of the representatives, Miss. VanEvera, to calculate how our first semi-formal dance went. We asked her a series of questions and these were her responses:
How was the turnout for this dance?
Ms. VanEvera: “I was happy with the attendance, especially since it was the first year of doing this.”
What would you do differently, if anything?
Ms. VanEvera: “I feel that the advertisement could have been earlier, so students can better prepare for the dance.”
How did the cornhole tournament go?
Ms. VanEvera: “The tournament went well. It was mostly popular amongst the guys.”
How were the profits?
Ms. VanEvera: “The dance overall received a medium amount of profits.”
What did you think of the music selection?
Ms. VanEvera: “The music selection was fine. A key part of what we had to think about was what kind of music teens would like. As far as the song requests go, they were good as well.”
What were the outfits/attire like?
Ms. VanEvera: “The attire consisted of appropriate colors.”
Do you plan on doing this next year?
Ms. VanEvera: “Yes, I would say that this was a success and we should do it next year.”
Overall, the snowflake semi-formal and the corn hole tournament were a success. We look forward to seeing what they do for it next year!
