Accessibility

Accessibility

The Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC) is committed to making the symposium physically accessible and barrier-free in keeping with our 8th Principle.

Algonquin College has a small, intimate campus that meets the standards set by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

To respect those with allergies and environmental sensitivities, we ask everyone to refrain from wearing strong fragrances at the symposium.

We also have set up a quiet space with gentle lighting, for those who are feeling tired or overwhelmed.

Mobility

You are encouraged to bring service animals, support workers, and assistive devices to the symposium if needed. If you have mobility issues, you can reserve an electric scooter or a wheelchair–at no extra cost–when you register for the symposium.

Note: The registration fee for support workers accompanying a registrant is waived but not their meal or accommodation.

Dietary

If you have dietary restrictions, Algonquin College can prepare special meals upon request.

Accommodations

Accessible accommodations and washrooms are available.

Hearing Assistance Systems

There are a limited number of Hearing Assistance Systems available from the Theatre’s  Box Office. They can be reserved in advance by guests by emailing boxoffice@algonquincollege.com. They are also available on a first-come, first-served basis on event days in person. (A credit card will be used for a security deposit but there is no charge for the use).  The Box Office will open just before each of the Theatre events and close just after each one. The Box Office staff can provide the device and any info or directions that users might need.
